Hetty Hyssop is the deuteragonist in the Ghosthunters series.

Ghosthunters and the Incredibly Revolting Ghost[]

When Tom is convinced that he saw a ghost in his house cellar (and his mother and sister are convinced Tom's bonkers) when he was sent to fetch something, his grandma tells Tom to enlist the help of a friend, Hetty, who teaches Tom about ghosts, and decides that the ghost is an ASG (Averagely Spooky Ghost) based on Tom's encounter.
Tom is all set to defeat the ASG but it turns out this ghost is no meanie, and his name is Hugo. Learning that Hugo was chased out of his home by a big, bad IRG (Incredibly Revolting Ghost), Hetty and Tom help disperse the ghost with some graveyard dirt (which is INCREDIBLY lethal to ghosts) used in cookies. They get a new friend when they rid the poor cookie-maker, Mr. Lovely and the owner of the house, of the ghost.
